Karl Popper´s Published Writings and his Library
All Popper´s published books as well as all the books that constituted his library have entries in the Online Catalogue of the Klagenfurt University Library. By use of the search term "Popper-Sammlung" all titles can be retrieved and identified as part of this special collection. Individual features such as handwritten notes, dedications or inserts are noted in the catalogue entries.
The collection of Popper´s published writings contains approximately 650 volumes: all the imprints, editions and translations of the philosopher´s books; Among them are his Master Copies, marked with "MC" and in many cases inscribed with his personal comments. These annotations, sometimes on pieces of paper that are glued in, contain corrections and variations, additions and commentaries, and some of the copies contain extended preparatory notes for the next panned edition. Together these notes document the detailed development of Popper´s writing: Any idea that was published once in a certain context never proved to be final, and it remained open for ever to reconsideration.
The vast spectrum of Popper´s ideas is demonstrated by the List of Publications (maintained by Melitta Mew) and the International Karl Popper Bibliography 1925 - 2012 (compiled by Manfred Lube). The latter lists a large number of publications on Popper, on his ideas and on his writings.
